Tata Electronics has unveiled ambitious plans for a ₹27,000 crore semiconductor assembly facility in Assam. The project is set to create more than 27,000 jobs, potentially making the company a major player in the semiconductor industry Set to be implemented by 2025, the program supports India’s semiconductor infrastructure and aims to spur economic growth and technology development in county.
The Tata Group has launched a milestone by holding a ‘Bhoomi Poojan’ ceremony for its new semiconductor plant in Assam, marking a major step forward in India’s industrial manufacturing sector at a ceremony marking the start of construction in with continued goodwill and built the group to emphasize commitment to innovation and regional development.
He also mentioned that Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Sons, has extended his best wishes for the success of the project and the prosperity of the people of Assam.
“At its capacity it will employ 27,000 people, 15,000 direct jobs and additional 12,000 indirect jobs. We want to move fast. We are trying to accelerate the building of this factory. We hope sometime in 2025 we will be able to complete this facility and quickly start operations,” Chandrasekaran said.
The new plant is part of the Tata Group’s strategic plan to enhance India’s self-sufficiency in semiconductor manufacturing, which is at the heart of modern power and information technology. The project is expected to not only strengthen India’s position in the global semiconductor market but also create huge employment opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of Assam and the Northeast region.
In his speech, N Chandrasekaran highlighted the adaptive potential of the semiconductor industry.
